THE <CODE> BOTTEGA

Developed a custom WordPress theme for Snowball Creations, an 8 year old agency, specialising in paid media in Google, Facebook, LinkedIn and other major platforms for a variety of industries. Particularly SaaS, Homeware and Wellness. The project involved creating a high-converting website while preserving significant existing organic traffic.

> The agency's previous website had strong SEO performance but poor conversion rates and no longer reflected their brand evolution. The key challenge was modernizing their digital presence without disrupting their established organic traffic.

## Solution

I developed a hybrid solution combining:

- Custom WordPress theme built with \_tw for complex sections
- Elementor integration for content management flexibility
- Comprehensive SEO migration strategy

## Technical Implementation

The development process focused on several key areas:

### Custom Theme Development

- Built a custom theme using \_tw framework
- Integrated Elementor for 90% of page layouts
- Optimized for performance and flexibility

### SEO Migration Strategy

These are the main things I looked out for when launching the new site design:

- **External Links**: Use tools like Ahrefs/SEMrush/Search Console to ensure external links point to valid pages. Set up redirects for any broken links.
- **Internal Links**: Crawl the site to check for pages with error (404) or redirect (301) status codes. Avoid unnecessary redirects for efficiency and check that URLs remain consistent across old and new sites.
- **Search Console**: Verify that indexed URLs bringing traffic are present on the new site, or set up redirects to the new URLs.
- **Performance**: Ensure images are optimized for size to avoid slow loading times.
- **Tracking Tags**: Ensured that all tracking tags (e.g., Google Tag Manager, Facebook pixels) were not impacted by the new design.
- **Final Crawl**: After the site launch, crawl the new site again to ensure all pages have a 200 status, and there are no issues with meta descriptions, page titles, or structured data.

## Results & Feedback

The new website successfully:

- Maintained existing organic traffic
- Significantly improved conversion rates
- Better represented the agency's current positioning
- Provided easy content management for the client
